From Charles City Police Chief Mike Wendel:

In February all Charles City Police officers took part in defensive tactics training again. We do this regularly for obvious reasons. Every time we do, I feel a little older. Wrestling around with some of the younger officers definitely makes me appreciative of ibuprofen the next morning. All of the officers do well and take the training seriously but really capitalize on the opportunity to kid each other about things like weight, stamina, choice of work-out clothing, AGE, etc. Much of the training that the officers are exposed to is structured and pre-planned, and continually used by them as they go about their jobs. Issues like handling medical emergencies, use of force, legal changes, and a range of other topics keep officers well-supplied with continued training material on issues that they deal with day in and day out. Other serious issues crowd their calendars too, with topics that we hope and pray will never happen. Thanks, guys for your commitment to training. Training that has, and will, continue to serve the entire community.
