MASON CITY – Mason City Police investigated a call regarding drugs at John Adams 8th grade school, 1700 4th Street SE, on Thursday at 11:32 a.m.
According to police records, a 13 year old child was arrested and charges were filed. The name of the child and the specific charges were not made available.

It appears you’re all too willing to fight amongst yourselves, and totally miss what the real issue here is! The fact that a 13 year old is bringing weed to school is the problem. And don’t think for a minute that he is the only one! And who do suppose is smoking it with him? Other 13 year olds of course. THAT IS THE PROBLEM. How do people just assume they are from Detroit or Chicago??? Just because it’s weed they get caught with dont mean anything.. Iowa is one of the meth capitols of the world.. But that dont mean anything.. A child gets caught with weed which is legal in some states. Which people act like its going to kill you.. Weed has never killed anyone.. Nor does it mean they are “black” because they have it.. Pretty sure there are plenty of residents in Mason City or Iowa period that have been smokin it for years.. I agree whole heartedly with Alice. I know the mother of this kid too. You all can read what you want, no one mentioned black people or racist anything. Don’t read too much into what people say. There are plenty of people moving here from big cities that are white & up to no good also. So sad to be that young with a drug problem. Hope he straightens out!

No, not everyone does or did it. Back in High School, there was a crowd that were druggies, and most everyone else avoided them so as not to gain that kind of reputation.

Drugs have been in North Iowa for decades. They are produced here, grown here and consumed here. Blaming one group of people for the influx of drugs is is ridiculous. The ‘holier than you’ attitude is pathetic and does nothing to solve the problem.

I remember years ago when Wisconsin decided to cut back on there welfare benifits just to keep all the rif-raf from moving into there state. Maybe this might be what Iowa has to do to discourage the drug dealers from coming here. Des Moines has seen a lot more heroin showing up there. No wonder when you run a shuttle bus every day to Chicago and back. With a bus driver half crocked. They charged him with drunk driving.

That’s who I heard it was, I don’t know the boy, so I won’t judge him. I don’t know the mother either, but have heard the boy was taken from her when he was little and now she’s living in the area again. Let’s hope she wasn’t the one who gave it to him.

Confused, I don’t give a crap what color these people are…….black, yellow, red, purple. I don’t want them coming here and selling their drugs. And yes, I am a product of the 80’s and smoked weed. I didn’t smoke it in school. But these people go way beyond selling weed. Crack, meth, pills, coke. Take it somewhere else, I don’t want it here, and I don’t think I am too alone in my feelings.

No friend, I didn’t mean black people. In fact, we have some friends that are black. They don’t do drugs or sell drugs. They have jobs, just like you and me. And their kids are friends with my kids. I know the mother’s name and the kid’s. Word gets around, Jams is pretty small and the kids all know who it was. Seems the mother is the problem.

I am extremely disappointed in the juvenile court system here in Mason City. I have had to go there 3 times for the same 10th grader. This girl stole my daughter’s phone from the pool, went to juvenile court then, she has since harrassed and threatened my daughter numerous times, been back to juvenile court. Nothing. This kid has stolen from the mall, been kicked out of the mall numerous times, stole from a church, stolen stuff from other kids at the skating rink, also been kicked out of the skating rink. And she’s still walking around town doing whatever she wants to whoever she wants. Ridiculous.
Sorry to hear what you and your family have had to experience…The Juvenile Court Office in Mason City is absolutely worthless. Not sure if it’s because of lack of education or if it’s because some of their own juvenile court officers are afraid to pursue more harsh consequences. Either way, all of them are totally ineffective, yet each one of them thinks they are a “hard @ss”.
The kid that’s been bothering my daughter, her parents are from Detroit, they don’t give a crap what their kid does, they are too busy with their own business if ya know what I mean.
