Bumbleberry Bakery has been in their current location at 418 1st Street S.W. in Mason City only a short time but apparently now they are planning to move.
Bumbleberry Bakery’s Facebook page put out the following notice Sunday evening: “Thank you Mason City and surrounding communities. You have made our bakery such a success we have already outgrown our cute little building. Starting Tuesday September 6 we will be closing at 2 p.m. daily so that we can work on our new location on 4th street (the old borialis coffee shop) Plans are to have a grand opening October 1st.”
The former Borealis Coffee Shop was located in downtown Mason City at the corner of 4th Street SW and North Federal Avenue.
The owner of Bumbleberry Bakery, Roxie Owens, was also set to open a tea room in a house kitty corner from the current location of the bakery. There was no definite word as of Sunday night whether that was still going to happen, but it appeared a lot of work had been done at least to the exterior of the house.
According to all NorthIowatoday.com has talked with, the bakery has done very well and has been well-received by the community. One customer left a message that said “Absolutely amazing place, doesn’t get much better then this!”
