Gregory Burkhart, age 67 of Humboldt, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Springvale Assisted Living in Humboldt. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. More details to follow. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt.
Gregory William Burkhart, the son of William Paul and Elizabeth May (Ackerson) Burkhart, was born on November 26, 1958 in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from the Humboldt Community School District in 1977 and then attended Iowa Central Community College. Greg was a member of the Faith United Methodist in Humboldt and also was a part of the WW2 100th Bomb Group. He was self-employed as a computer technician until his retirement in 2023.
Left to cherish Greg’s memory is his brother, Marc (Lori) Burkhart of Bailey Island, ME; nephews, Matthew (Crystal) Burkhart of Denver, CO, Nathan (Katie) Burkhart and their children, Avery and Owen, of Maple Grove, MN, Devin (Sarah) Burkhart, and their children, Soren, Leander, and Iggy, of Fairlee, VT, and Jordan (Katie) Burkhart and their son, Finn, of Auburn, ME; cousin and local caretaker, Verlus (Sharon) Burkhart of Fairmont, MN; aunt, Helen Ackerson of Keokuk, IA; and various cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty; three sisters in infancy; maternal grandparents, Albin and Edith Ackerson; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Minnie Burkhart.
