A Mason City, Iowa, man has been sentenced to over fourteen years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.

Christopher David Douglas, age 33, of Mason City, Iowa, received his prison term after an April 4, 2012, guilty plea.

According to information disclosed at the sentencing and change of plea hearing, on or about September 23, 2011, a confidential source made arrangements with Douglas to sell him a pound of crystal methamphetamine. A search warrant was executed on Douglas’s residence and the pound of crystal methamphetamine was recovered. Douglas possessed an additional amount of crystal methamphetamine weighing approximately one-half pound. The conspiracy lasted from about 2006 through September 23, 2011, in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa.

Douglas was sentenced on September 25, 2012, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Douglas was sentenced to 151 months’ imprisonment and a five-year term of supervised release after prison. Douglas was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.

Douglas is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Police Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
