Male teen shot in the gut in Fort Dodge; police seeking clues

FORT DODGE - A male teen suffered a gunshot to the gut in Fort Dodge and police are seeking clues.

FORT DODGE – A male teen suffered a gunshot to the gut in Fort Dodge and police are seeking clues.

On Friday, January 6th, at approximately 11:40 P.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received multiple calls of shots fired in the area of 1800 Blk 4th Ave S. Callers advised that they had heard multiple shots being fired.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a 17‐year‐old male that had sustained a gunshot to his abdominal area. Officers rendered aid to the juvenile male until Fort Dodge Fire arrived on scene and transported the male to Unity Point‐Trinity Regional Medical Center for further treatment. The injury sustained by the juvenile male is not believed to be life threatening.

Upon further investigation from the patrol officers of the Fort Dodge Police Department, officers located witnesses in the area as well as physical evidence that was collected. Members of the Criminal Investigation Division were called in to assist with the investigation. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers and investigators are continuing to follow up on this incident. Police encourage anyone who may have seen or heard anything around this area at this time to contact the police department. With all investigations, any video evidence is essential to resolving an incident.
