Lavonne Ann Hoversten, 86, of Alden, IA passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on Oct. 3rd, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alden with burial in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Monday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Lavonne was born on April 4th, 1939, to Henry and Anna Kastendick. She attended Alden Public School. She was an active, lifelong member at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was involved in Ladies Aid and held multiple offices at the Zone level. She worked retail and volunteered at the local food pantry for many years after retirement. Her hobbies included collecting Precious Moments figurines, quilting, needlework, gardening, canning, and sports. She played basketball in high school. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Indiana Fever fan, enjoyed watching Caitlin Clark, and attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Duane; their five children, Debbie Whipple (Wade), Jeff (Sandy), Julie Fornea (Eb), Dee Dee Thomsen (Bruce,) and Dan (Lonnie); 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Norman and Marvin.
