Maralou Tepner, 86, died Friday, August 8, 2025, at her home. A private family inurnment will be held at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, Iowa.

Maralou was born in Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur E. and Vernetta R. “Babe” (Poesch) Wolff. She graduated from Rockwell City High School, where she excelled as a talented six-on-six basketball player and worked as a lifeguard during the summers.

She continued her education at Drake University, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Business along with a major in Music. Maralou had a deep love for music, especially playing the piano. While attending Drake, she met Franklin L. Tepner, who was studying medicine.

Following graduation, Maralou worked at Principal Insurance, continuing her career while Frank completed his medical residency. The couple was later united in marriage and made their home in the small town of Bode, Iowa, where they operated a private family medical practice. Maralou served as the business manager until 1987, after which she began working for Kossuth County Hospital until her retirement in 2007.

In retirement, Maralou treasured the opportunity to spend time with her only grandson, Ryan, whom she adored. She especially loved taking him to all the local parks. An avid reader, Maralou also enjoyed cheering for Iowa Hawkeye football and the Minnesota Vikings. She was active in the Sweet Adelines Choir, sharing her love of music with others.

Maralou is survived by her two sons, Jess Tepner of Bode, IA, and Scott (Teresa) Tepner of Mason City, IA; her grandson, Ryan Tepner of Mason City; nieces Darcy (Duane) Murley and Tracy Wolff; and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Wolff.
