Kathy Tresemer, age 76, of Mason City, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family under the care of St. Croix Hospice on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her home. Funeral arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with a one-hour prior visitation on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City with Jim Fullerton officiating. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Willow Run Lounge, 2821 Fourth St SW, Mason City, to celebrate Kathy’s life.

Kathy Jean (Detmering) Tresemer was born on October 20, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Gladys (Alexander) and George Detmering. She grew up on a farm just outside of Wesley alongside her sisters, Vicki Als and Linda Rippentrop. After graduating from Corwith-Wesley High School, she pursued further education at Hamilton Business School in Mason City.

On Sept 18, 1971 Kathy was joined in marriage to Daniel Tresemer at the Wesley Methodist Church in Wesley, Iowa. Together they had Brad and Kim along with so many “adopted kids.” They opened their hearts and home to Chris Morando from Italy. Kathy and Dan enjoyed doing Farmers Market together for Dan’s last year of life. Kathy later started a baking side business with her daughter’s Kim and Carrie. She enjoyed being with family and friends and never hesitated to help cook and bake for community fundraisers and family gatherings. Her potato salad being a hot commodity.

Kathy had a dedicated career, beginning at Mohawk Advertising, Cerro Gordo County Courthouse, Curtis 1000, and Marco until retiring in 2015. In retirement, she welcomed her beloved Brindle Pitbull-Boxer mix, Dani. She found joy in gardening, especially planting tulips and clematis and baking.

She cherished time with family and friends, often gathering at the bar for cards with Sandy, or playing marbles with her dear friend Judy. Mornings were spent enjoying coffee while playing computer games or checking the weather with her great-grandson James Clark. She loved sharing stories about her past—whether reminiscing about childhood memories or recounting humorous moments from raising her children. Her laughter was infectious, bringing warmth to those around her. Kathy will be remembered for her kindness, smile and loving life attitude.

Kathy’s short battle with cancer showed how remarkably strong she was, never complaining of pain and always saying she had a great life. Her spunkiness and stubbornness, always having a way of making those around her laugh.

Kathy is lovingly remembered by her son Brad (Carrie) Tresemer of Roland; daughter Kim Ryan of Mason City; son Jake (Trish) Jones; sister Vicki (Jerry) Als of Mason City; grandchildren: Jordan (Tara) Brown, Traci (Bob)Ryan, Phoenix (Jessie) Shelton, Ali Clark, Brock (Theresa)
Tresemer, and Connor Tresemer; as well as many great-grandchildren: Audrina, Lincoln, Landon, Evelyn, Paiton, Brynlee, Quinnlee, Cayla, Wren, James and Jordan Jr.

Waiting for Kathy with open arms are her husband of 38 yrs Daniel; her parents, Gladys and George; sister, Linda; granddaughter, Cassady, many aunts and uncles and good friend, Angie Krammer.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
