Susan Beth Knutson, 61, of Mason City, IA passed away on November 11, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her family.
Susan was born on July 1, 1963, in Britt, Iowa, to Raymond and Doris (Heller) Bartek. After graduating high school, she embarked on a variety of jobs, always eager to stay busy and try something new.
Susan was a kind-hearted, free spirit known for her deep generosity and love of all animals, especially dogs. She dedicated herself to rescuing animals, saving dogs from puppy mills, and even rescuing a budgie stranded in a Hy-Vee parking lot.
Her giving spirit extended to everyone in need; she was always there to help others, offering support wherever she could. Susan also loved crafting, finding joy in creating handmade gifts for the neighborhood children. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched, the animals she saved, and the kindness she shared so freely.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Wayne Knutson; son Antonio Hernandez; step-son Chaise Knutson; cousins Lori (Earl) Williams; extended family and many friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Doris Bartek; sister Cindy Medinaz and aunt Mary Williams.
Susan’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 16 at 3 P.M. at the Mason City V.F.W., 1603 S Monroe Ave, Mason City, IA 50401.
