ALBERT LEA, MN – A herd of aggressive vacuum cleaner salesmen, possibly without permits, are putting on a full court press in nearby Albert Lea, Minnesota, and now cops want to have a word.
Albert Lea police alerted the community Tuesday that their tranquility could be disturbed by a random knock at the door, followed by fast talking and an assertive sales pitch.
“There are sales people selling vacuum cleaners door to door,” Albert Lea police said Tuesday. “We’ve received several calls from residents due to the aggressive demeanor of these sales people. Please call the ALPD if they come to your residence as we would like to have a word with them.”
Folks immediately chimed in. One resident claimed one salesman “was extremely aggressive and would not take no for an answer he was selling Kirby vacuums.”
Another woman claimed a man “was also talking about free carpet cleaning & when I told him I wasn’t interested, he took off with 2 other guys….in a white van!”
Still another woman said she was glad she called police after her encounter. “I am so glad I called last night and made a report like I did. I have a video of how the man outrageously acted in my house last night! (alpd has seen all footage).”
Later Tuesday, police alerted citizens that “individuals associated with this group have been spoken to. They will get the necessary permits to continue their sales.”
