Tom Schall, 68 of Humboldt, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 9 am until service time on Monday at the Church. Burial will be at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Clare. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt.
Thomas Joseph Schall, son of Gerald and Joanne (Kearney) Schall, was born on June 5, 1956, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Tom attended Humboldt Community Schools and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1974. After graduation, Tom enrolled at Iowa State University until his father fell ill. Tom loved his career in agriculture.
Tom was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt and the Investment Club. Tom was the true definition of “older brother.” He had the biggest heart and loved to be the caregiver to both of his parents. You would often find Tom watching Western’s, baseball or cooking channels. He loved being social at coffee and dining at restaurants. Tom was a quick thinker and although he was a quiet guy, when he did speak, he only had to say it once. His nieces and nephews were the highlight of his life and he often teased the “Schall Girls’ Mafia” for stalking him.
Left to cherish Tom’s memory are his siblings: Mike (Patricia) Schall of Gilmore City, Cathy Giddings of Humboldt, Cindy (Keith) Edge of Humboldt, Jerry (Geri) Schall of Dakota City, Patty (Ernie) Ruben of Roland and Rick Schall of Hampton and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Gerald and Joanne Schall; brother-in-law: Paul “Motor” Giddings; nephew: Scott Schall and sister-in-law: Julie Schall.
