Charles Vernon Kraft, 94, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in his Mason City, Iowa home. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church.

Charles Vernon Kraft, 94, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in his Mason City, Iowa home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church, 125 E State St, Mason City with Reverend Jim Bringman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the Church.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to the family.

Chuck was born on March 29, 1930, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Thelma (Ketner) Kraft. He was a graduate of Mason City High School. Chuck honorably served his Country in the United States Navy during the Korean War from October 1948 to October of 1952. After returning to Iowa he married Wanda Richey, together the couple had four children. Later remarried Dixie Ewers, on April 2, 1977, their union lasted 39 years until her passing in 2017. Chuck worked for Mason City Schools for over 34 years and was a friend to many that passed through the halls of Mason City High School.

In his free time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Everyone that met Chuck became his friend. Chuck liked being outdoors and camping. He was an active member in the community volunteering at the Moose, VFW, Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, Trinity Lutheran Church and was a DAV driver. Chuck was currently a member of the First Baptist Church and often helped them whenever he could. He was very generous and giving in anyway that he could. Chuck often would bake and share rhubarb dream bars to many.

Those left to cherish memories of Chuck are his daughter, Debbie (Larry) Lutton; Dixie’s children, Mark Ferry, Timothy Ferry, and Shawn (Tim) Garcia; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Marlys (Roger) Weiland; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Kraft; children, Susan (Dave) Austin, Linda (Doug) Hansen, and Chuck Kraft; grandchildren, Rachael Austin; and sister, Gwyla Fields.
