CEDAR RAPIDS – Authorities responded to a report of a body floating in Iowa’s Cedar River over the weekend.
At approximately 2:30 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023, Cedar Rapids Police and Fire were called to the Cedar River following the report of a body floating in the river. Officers located a deceased, adult male floating along the west bank of the river between the Ellis boat ramp and I Ave boat ramp. Cedar Rapids Firefighters deployed a boat and were able to recover the body just before 3:30 PM.
The identity of the deceased is unknown and an investigation is underway.
