MASON CITY – The Mason City Community School District announced that the Mohawk Cheer Squad has been named 4A Spirit of Iowa Grand Champions for 2020.
Mohawks Cheerleaders are 4A Grand Champions winning the Spirit of Iowa Award at the Iowa Cheerleading State Championships, according to Mohawk Booster Club. They also brought home State Titles in Time Out and Fight Song divisions as well as a runner up placing in the Band Chant division.
The championships were held virtually this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This championship is designed to give recognition to the excellent high school cheerleading squads in the state of Iowa, and is the only state-recognized championship.
