CEDAR RAPIDS – A Decorah woman died in a Cedar Rapids car crash.
The individual who died in the Friday, August 28 accident on U.S. Interstate 380 southbound near U.S. Highway 30 in Cedar Rapids has been identified as 57-year-old Rebecca Sue Anderson of Decorah, Iowa. Anderson was driving a 2013 Buick Encore and was pronounced deceased at the scene. At 6:33 PM that evening, an accident was reported and it involved two vehicles striking the back of a flatbed truck. Anderson’s vehicle struck the back of the flatbed truck, causing fatal injuries.
Jordan Holtkamp, age 31 of North Liberty, Iowa was driving a 2010 Mazda MZ6 and was also involved in the accident. He was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with serious injuries.
The driver of the flatbed truck was identified as Carlos Javier Lopez, age 55, of Brownsville, Texas. Lopez was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
There was a previous accident on U.S. Interstate 380 southbound near the rest stop.
Police Department accident reconstruction specialists are continuing to investigate.
There will be no further information released at this time. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.

How do reporters verify and facts? Answer; They don’t anymore. Simple math check- he is 55 years old. What about the rest of the story or anything thing else they report on???
Since when has truth mattered in reporting, you sure don’t see it in the mainstream media.
Well, yes, the age was reported by police to be two different figures. That is the source of the deceased’s age – CRPD – and also virtually ALL the information in the story. Not realistic for media to do a ton more “fact-checking” on this particular story as police were on the accident scene and it’s their job to gather and release details to the public and media. Mistakes do get made. In this case, I changed the deceased’s age to 55 from 57.
