WASHINGTON, D.C.- The U.S. House of Representatives passed their version of the 2018 Farm Bill.

Iowa Congressman Steve King, a member of the House Agriculture Committee, released the following statement following House passage of HR. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (Farm Bill). The Farm Bill contains several of Congressman King’s initiatives, including legislation he introduced, the Protect Interstate Commerce Act (PICA), which prevents activist states like California from unconstitutionally regulating interstate commerce in agriculture by imposing regulatory hurdles on other states. The Farm Bill passed the House of Representatives this afternoon on a vote of 213-211 with Congressman King voting in favor of the bill.

“The rural economy is hurting, and we need to get the House’s Farm Bill enacted into law as quickly as possible to ensure a vibrant farm economy that will protect our family farms,” said King. “This farm bill safeguards the Crop Insurance program, increases funding for important export programs, and furthers agriculture research being done at Iowa State University. It also includes my PICA provision that will ensure Iowa’s agricultural products are not denied access to some of the nation’s largest markets. This bill is too important to our rural communities to be left sitting on Senator McConnell’s desk. I encourage the Senate to pass it quickly so that President Trump can sign it into law and bring rural communities the assurances they seek.”

In addition to PICA, the Farm Bill also contains several initiatives championed by Congressman King:

– The House-passed Farm Bill contains a King amendment which strengthens the EQIP Soil/Water Conservation Program by making Drainage Districts eligible for EQIP Contracts.

– The House-passed Farm Bill includes “Genome to Phenome” language that allows universities such as Iowa State University to further research weather, environmental, and production system impacts on crops.

– The House-passed Farm Bill includes provisions creating and funding the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Vaccine Bank.

– The House-passed Farm Bill makes important changes to the SNAP program, placing work requirements of 20 hours a week on some food stamp recipients.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue also issued a statement after the House of Representatives passed their version of the 2018 Farm Bill:

“I applaud Chairman Conaway and the House Agriculture Committee for their diligence and hard work in passing their 2018 Farm Bill through the House of Representatives. American producers have greatly benefited from the policies of the Trump Administration, including tax reforms and reductions in regulations, however a Farm Bill is still critically important to give the agriculture community some much-needed reassurance. No doubt, there is still much work to be done on this legislation in both chambers of Congress, and USDA stands ready to assist with whatever counsel lawmakers may request or require.”

And the New Yorkers aka bankers are taking it to the farmers. All the present events unfolding show a very volatile market on the horizon. Perhaps this current dog and pony show is one big distraction as the prices are going to go up,up,up. Her comes oil prices shooting out the top like ole’ spindle top. The juggernaut that is Brazilian soybean production will rule. Supreme Court allowing taxes on Bezo and his mighty Amazon, who will raise the prices by the way. Throw into the mix a big soapy bubble being popped that is Wall Street. And who going to tell you the truth…TV news! “Read my lips..Inflation”. lol

Farm economy in Iowa has grown and enriched itself 10 times over any other private sector business in Iowa – thanks to all the elected officials who have farm ties and friends in higher places (elected officials)

If he really wanted to help Iowa ,he’d kick Trump square in the nuts. And make sure tariffs only affected assholes who own fancy hotels that normal people can’t afford to stay in. Not put it on the backs of small family farmers.

How many of those “small family farmers” voted for Trump?
They were fine it it until it came back to bite them in the ass.
As farmers should know, you reap what you sow.

Not this one!

Good for you but unfortunately you’re in the very small minority when it comes to farmers that did not vote for Trump.
The vast majority of small farmers voted for Trump and are now “paying the price’ for supporting the devil. I have no sympathy for them as they “loved Trump” but are now whining, bitching and moaning because their “savior” betrayed them. Nothing new there, but they were to ignorant to realize that.
Those farmers that voted for Trump were fine with Trump when it was everyone else getting screwed, but now that they are getting bent over and having it stuck to them, they cry like little girls. That part of it is funny as hell…..dumb-asses.
Sadly, you and all of us are caught up in the disaster that is Donald Trump.
You and I are going to pay the price along with the dumb-ass numb-nuts farmers that voted for Trump.

Most farmers are smarter than “Not Me”.

Not quite, you stupid old geezer.
But everyone is smarter than you, you dumbass old goat.

These tariffs by Asia sound bad. Funny how the money coming in is going to be going out to offset these tariffs. So you might think you had the money but you really didn’t. Kinda like working a 9-5 job. The paycheck comes in and it goes out to pay the bills. So get ready to fix what you got if you ain’t already doing it. No extra money here to spend on the side for the peasants. The king gets it all. lol

“The rural economy is hurting” and the Farming community.
Steve King is such a numb-nuts, if the Farming community is hurting it is because King’s buddy
Trump and his Tariffs and then counter Tariffs by the Chinese and Mexico are costing the Farmers over a half a billion dollars.
The truly priceless part is that most of the Farmers voted for Trump…kismet.
King is just promoting more Farm subsidies (really Farmer Welfare).
Recipients of Corn Subsidies from farms in 4th District of Iowa (Rep. Steve King) totaled $7,348,000,000 in from 1995-2016.

And Steve King is just another Republican hog at the taxpayer trough.
“EWG’s report shows Steve King and Jeff King collected a combined $36,340 in 2012. Their 16 year total is more than $1.2 million”

On another note, Steve King has recently proven once again that he is a vile bigot and and an idiot.
“U.S. Rep. Steve King said in a radio interview Friday he doesn’t want Somali Muslims working in meat packing plants in his district.
He said he questioned whether those workers should handle pork”
So dumbass King, does that mean you would exclude all Jews as well?

King and Trump have a lot in common in terms of racism and bigotry.
That’s bad enough, but that they continue to be supported by their cult-like drone followers is even more distressing.
It says a lot about some Iowans, mostly the stupid old white guys that keep voting for King.

You are so full of crap it is coming out of your ears. Demoncraps are only good for three things, High Taxes, High Crime and Obstruction.
