Nora Springs man gets probation for car accident and drug possession, then arrested after violent incident

NORA SPRINGS – A Nora Springs man got probation for a Waterloo car accident in which a woman was seriously hurt and drug possession, then was arrested after a violent incident.

Andreas D. Frazier, age 33 with a last known residence of Nora Springs, was accused by Waterloo police of drunk driving, serious injury by vehicle, and third-offense possession of marijuana after an auto accident on June 19, 2016. The Waterloo Courier reported that an elderly woman was left with serious injuries in the accident, and Frazier’s blood-alcohol level was .223.

(CORRECTION: The car accident was not fatal, as earlier reported this morning.)

However, court records show Frazier entered into a plea deal and in January, he was guilty of serious injury by vehicle and third-offense possession of marijuana; the drunk driving charge was not found. He was sentenced to 5 and 2 years of suspended prison time, respectively. He also got 5 years and 5 years of probation with $265.00 in court fees and charges.

Then, Frazier was involved in a domestic incident on February 18 in Nora Springs in which he allegedly abused a woman and threatened police. He was charged with felony third-offense domestic abuse assault, first-degree harassment, assault on police and child endangerment. Frazier was taken to the Floyd county jail and remains there at this time, awaiting an April 3 arraignment.

Frazier was immediately charged with violating his probation in the fatal Waterloo car wreck and drug case.

Back in May of 2016, Frazier was accused of smashing out a window on a Nora Springs police vehicle. He later entered a guilty plea to fourth-degree criminal mischief and one count of first-degree harassment along with a charge of driving while revoked. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 152 days suspended, along with one year of probation and $1,080.25 in fines, fees and restitution.
