Tina Marie Scharlau, 51, of 317 3rd St. N.W., Mason City, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday July 31, 2012 at Fullerton Funeral Home 123 2nd St. S.E., Mason City with a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Following the visitation Tina will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 1, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th Street S.E. Reverend John Gossman will be officiating. Tina Marie (Bitker) Scharlau was born on July 16, 1961 in Mason City, IA to Larry and Dorothy Bitker. She lived in Mason City her whole life. Tina was a graduate from Newman High School. She also was a graduate from Capri Cosmetology School. On May 21, 1983, Tina was united in marriage to John Scharlau. To this union three sons were born: Brian, Brent, and Brandon.
Tina’s most recent occupation was working for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Mason City. She also liked to cut hair. Friends and family would visit her home for haircuts. In her free time Tina would make jewelry boxes or play games on Facebook, and enjoyed playing pool. Tina would also spend lots of time with friends in the neighborhood. She really enjoyed visiting with people.
Tina will be dearly missed by all those who shared in her life.
Tina is survived by her husband, John Scharlau; sons, Brian (JoAnn), Brent, and Brandon Scharlau; father, Larry Bitker; brothers, Brad (Della), Scott, and Todd Bitker; sisters, Brenda (Steven) Campbell and Teresa (David) Samuelsen; sister-in-law, Kay Staley; grandson, Jacob Scharlau; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Bitker; Grandparents, Christine (Granny) Paulsen, and Arnold Paulsen; Uncles, Don, Jerry, Richard, and Tom Paulsen.
