FORT DODGE – A pair of Fort Dodge teens were sent to a juvenile detention center after an armed attempt to break into cars.

On Sunday, January 7, 2018, the Webster County Communications Center received a call in regard to two suspicious persons in the 2000 block of 5th Ave North in Fort Dodge. The caller indicated that two juvenile males were looking in vehicles in that area.
Officers responded to the area and located two juvenile males, both 15 years of age. Upon speaking with these individuals, it was determined that they had been checking cars in the area, and appeared to have attempted to break out a window of a car as well. Found in the immediate area of the juveniles was a shotgun, in its case, which was later determined to have been stolen from a vehicle in the area. Additionally, a handgun was also located during the investigation.

The two juveniles were transported to the Law Enforcement Center and were charged with the following:

*Burglary in the Third Degree (D Felony)
*Attempted Burglary in the Third Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
*Carrying Weapons (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
As a result of these charges, both juveniles were transported to the Central Iowa Detention Center in Eldora, Iowa. From there they will await juvenile court proceedings.

Due to the age of the offenders, their names will not be released.
