Man injured after two-vehicle accident south of Mason City Sunday afternoon

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A two-vehicle crash south of Mason City sent one man to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

The accident took place on August 20 at about 4:24 PM. The Cerro Gordo Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at 220th Street and Olive Avenue South of Mason City.

Christopher Setterholm, age 36 of Rockwell, was Southbound on Olive Avenue in a 1995 Dodge Ram and Jarod Cole, age 32 of Mason City, was Westbound on 220th Street in a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee when the two vehicles struck at an uncontrolled intersection.

As a result of the collision, Cole’s passenger, 37-year-old Kirk Hefley of Gowrie, Iowa, was transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa to be evaluated.

All subjects were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Cole will be cited for failure to yield to vehicle on the right.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and Mason City Fire Medics.
