CLARION, IOWA – A Wright county man has been sent to prison for not complying with the state’s sex offender registry and sexually exploited a minor.
Law enforcement in Wright county brought felony charges against 29-year-old Steven Rasmussen for failing to comply with the sex offender registry after investigating his compliance. Reportedly, in one case, Rasmussen was on a school property without permission and had been using social media to send messages to a child. In a second case, Rasmussen sexually exploited a minor.
As a result of guilty pleas, Rasmussen was sentenced last week to 5 years in prison and 10 years in prison, respectively, to be served concurrently in these two cases. He has already been sent to the Iowa Medical & Classification Center in Coralville to be processed.
