DAVENPORT – A large apartment building partially collapsed Sunday evening in Davenport, Iowa’s third-largest city.

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, at approximately 4:55 PM, the Davenport Fire Department and Davenport Police Department responded to 324 Main Street for a report of a building collapse. This appears to be an apartment building. The 6-story building collapsed on one side from the roof all the way to the ground. There was discussion online about ongoing structural issues at the building and that there were people inside when the collapse occurred.

Crews from Davenport Fire, Davenport Police and Davenport Public Works are currently on scene to secure the surrounding area and respond to the active incident including utility disconnection.

The north side of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church (417 N Main Street) is serving as a reunification point. Citizens in the community are offering assistance to those affected, as well.

The City of Davenport held a press conference Monday morning to address the incident.

There were no reports of any fatalities of injuries.
