MASON CITY – A Mason City man is facing two domestic assault charges and violations of a protective order.
Robert Gifford Macdormott, age 27, has been charged by Mason City police and Clear Lake police with domestic abuse assault for two separate incidents. The first alleged crime took place on August 30, 2016 in Mason City. He has entered a guilty plea in this case and will be sentenced February 15.
The second incident took place January 17, 2017 in Clear Lake. Macdormott was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault and violation of a no-contact order. He was soon found guilty of the no-contact order violation and ordered to serve 7 days in jail. He has entered a guilty plea in this domestic assault case and will be sentenced, again, on February 15. Court records show a letter from the victim will be addressed at sentencing.
Macdormott is also accused of violating the no-contact order on February 11.
