MASON CITY – Roads were closed Wednesday evening as a fire at an auto salvage yard was dealt with.
B20 Auto Salvage, located at 7600 300th Street outside Clear Lake, reported after 4:00 PM that “We are on fire”. It appeared that the main building there was engulfed in flames.
Area fire departments went to the scene to control the blaze. More fire engines were coming to the area as were water trucks. A Cerro Gordo County Sheriff deputy was at the scene keeping cars from traveling too close. Smoke could still be seen coming from the building, plus the surrounding area was polluted with smoke, which could be seen in Mason City.
There was no word on the total damage, but the fire seemed to be out within a couple of hours.
