Mason City woman cited after two-car accident

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was cited by police after she allegedly blasted through a red light and t-boned another vehicle.

Monday morning August 8 at 7:48 AM, a collision was reported in the intersection of State Street and North Delaware Avenue in downtown Mason City. Katie Kuppinger, age 27 of Mason City was westbound on State Street in a Dodge Dart.  Allan Dahl of Manly was northbound towards the intersection in a Toyota Prius. Kuppinger allegedly ran the red traffic signal and both vehicles collided, with the Dart smashing into the Prius’ passenger side.

Police were called to the scene and after an investigation, Kuppinger was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.

Police tell NIT that Kuppinger was reported to be uninjured and Dahl had a possible injury (complaint of pain). No one was transported by ambulance.

Just this month, Kuppinger pleaded guilty to speeding here in Cerro Gordo county.  She was doing 16-20 miles per hour over the speed limit in 55 miles per hour or under zone.  She has to pay $181.50 in fines and court fees.
