MASON CITY – Things may be coming to a head at the Mason City School District.

The Mason City School Board has called a meeting within the legally-required 24-hour window. It will meet Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM inside the Board of Education Administration Building Board Room. The elected body will consider one action item only at this meeting: Consideration of and action regarding the district’s agreement with Superintendent Dr. Anita Micich.

Saturday morning, May 8, the School Board called for a meeting to be held Monday night. That meeting was held in closed session and started at 8 PM. NIT was not given any detail on what was discussed in that meeting, but it may have been related to Dr. Micich and her future with the school district.

NIT will report more on this rapidly-evolving situation as soon as possible.

If you listen to our mayor and a few council members our city is dying so we should be able to hire a new superintendent for a bargain price.

as stated before, how much are we going to pay her not to work here? Only in government

They would have to turn it in if it were money issues. As they would be held liable individually. You people watch to much TV. They can’t make a back yard deal with tax payers dollars. This is small town gossip being stated as fact. Slow your roll. Every dollar is audited each year. So if money were stolen it would have been out already and reported to state by the auditing agency.

And it all comes to light

$500,000.00 per year plus bennies and it’s never enough for these fat cats – hope she stays on and we get to see the dirt and grime come out – if she’s dirty file charges – TRUMP 2016

“its all about the children” NOT

i heard she did some inappriopiate money dealings and the board gave her til Friday to resign or they would make the dealing public

IF THAT’S THE CASE, there should be no secrecy. The dealings should be made public and the County Attorney involved.

Remember her treatment of the students in the treegate incident. She should get the same consideration.

And there should be no payments made to her to resign.

Get rid of her and get some one else in who isn’t money hungry! Her wage is excessive!

Anita a new job.

Cronyism is the appointment of a friend or associate to a position without regard to ones qualifications for the position. That is what the superintendent did when she hired a former school board member to a position at an elementary school. He did not have the license and/or endorsement from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners when he was hired for this position at this PK-4 elementary school. The superintendent and the former board member knew this. He was hired over a highly qualified district educator who holds the license and endorsement for this position. The superintendent and this man should both be removed from their positions in the school district. This act of cronyism was unethical, if not illegal by both the superintendent and the former school board member.

My daughter has student leadership meetings with Anita to address student concerns. When she doesn’t like what the students have to say, she turns a deaf ear to them and changes the subject.

I have lived and worked in Mason City for most of my life. My children and grandchildren have or do attend school in this community. I have never encountered a person who is as mean behind closed doors as this women. She has bullied teachers, parents, staff and thinks the rules do not apply to her just those beneath her. I hope this board did the right thing.
