MASON CITY – A Mason City man was found guilty in a case where he assaulted his daughter.
James Valores Patrick was involved in an altercation back on October 23, 2015 in Mason City. Police tell NIT Patrick was arrested after he assaulted his minor daughter.
“There was an altercation at the residence that preceded the assault on his daughter,” a police spokesman explained.
Originally, Patrick was charged with assault causing bodily injury and child endangerment. He entered a not-guilty plea and faced trial. Sometime during court proceedings, charges against Patrick were changed to assault. The court found him guilty.
A number of exhibits were introduced in court, and a victim impact statement was read at sentencing.
Patrick was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with all but 2 days suspended. He was also ordered to pay $362.89 in court costs.
