MASON CITY – A local man is in jail for his third drunk driving offense, even as he serves probation for felony abuse of a dependent person.
Brian Neal McDaid, age 50 of Clear Lake, was booked into the Cerro GOrdo county jail Tuesday night on a charge of operating while intoxicated. This is McDaid’s third arrest for drunk driving, at a minimum. He was also caught and prosecuted back in 2011 and 1997, both times in Cerro Gordo county.
McDaid was charged last year with felony neglect or abandonment of a dependent person. According to a source, the alleged victim lived with McDaid in Clear Lake. In August of 2015, he pleaded guilty and was given a deferred judgement, which included a suspended $1,000 fine, three months of probation, and he had to submit a DNA sample.
Already this month, Mcdaid was found guilty of violating his probation for willful disturbance of the court. At his sentencing on March 1, 2016, he was given 30 days in jail and ordered to spend 180 days in a residential correctional facility.
