Mason City man hurt when pickup strikes him

ambulanceMASON CITY – A Mason City man was hurt Wednesday afternoon when he was hit by a pickup truck after falling down in a road.

The accident happened Wednesday at about 2:37 PM. Mason City police and Cerro Gordo deputies were dispatched to a vehicle-pedestrian collision near McGregor Furniture on the north frontage road that parallels Highway 122 West.

Police say that Ron Lukes of Mason City was driving a pickup eastbound on the frontage road. A pedestrian, Shawn Holmes of Mason City, was walking eastbound on the grass between the highway and the frontage road. Holmes apparently slipped and fell into or near the frontage road, and the passenger mirror of Lukes’ truck apparently struck Holmes.

Holmes was transported to the ER by MCFD to be evaluated. It was said he had a head injury. No citations were issued.
