MASON CITY – An organization dedicated to improving the blight on the North End of Mason City has given a check to the Mason City Blue Zone initiative.
The Mason City Blue Zones Project report today that it was “certainly surprised today to have the North End Partnership Association provide us a check to support our work.”

A check for $506.92 was apparently given by the North End Partnership to the Blue Zone.
The North End Partnership Association says it was started in 2001 to work towards promoting and improving the North End of Mason City. It continues today by helping to fund area improvements and holding an annual clean-up.
I like the account and routing numbers at the bottom of the check.
Thanks. Free money courtesy of NIT with those #s
Pretty shady.
Katie, I totally agree with you. That money could of been spent on something up on the north end instead of giving it to the Blue Zone. I feel a it was a payment to Boozemeyer and his clowns to keep them off the northends back. Back in the old days we called it protection money. WASTEFUL SPENDING GETS YOU NOTHING.
it will go towards this yr’s overtime payment to Determan
It seems as though that $506.92 could have been spent in a more productive way. What an odd amount to give. Do they have grant money that they have to get rid of every year or something? Why not plant some trees in a park or something instead? Or buy some playground equipment.
@Katie-I completely agree with you. This certainly looks like a payoff doesn’t it. There are many things in the North End this could have been spent on to improve the neighborhood.
