SIBLEY, IOWA – A man traveling through Iowa on a grain railcar apparently fell off and was struck and run over, causing his death.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is assisting the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office with a death investigation north of Sibley, Iowa. On July 13, 2015, the body of Brandon Joseph Sage Gould, 29, was found near railroad tracks by a pedestrian, approximately a mile-and-a-half north of Sibley.
Officials believe Brandon fell off the train and was run over by the train. It is unknown, at this time, how or why Brandon fell off of the train.
It is believed that Brandon was traveling with his wife, Yvette Gould, aboard a Union Pacific railcar, which was carrying grain. Yvette reported Brandon missing during the afternoon hours of July 13, 2015, once the train arrived in Mankato, MN, to the Union Pacific Police. It is not known yet how long the two had been riding aboard the railcar.
An autopsy was performed on the body of Brandon Gould at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny. His death has been ruled as accidental.
