MASON CITY – The North Iowa Corridor sponsored an event on Monday evening, October 4th, 2010, at the Prime ‘N’ Wine in Mason City. The agency introduced North Iowa Connect, a sort-of club for young people in the area.
Striving to be a change agent, North Iowa Connect will focus on professional development and quality of life factors in the North Iowa area. The group is planning regular events and programs aimed at helping to attract and retain young professionals.
At the event, Andrea Goedderz, Chair of the North Iowa Connect Advisory Council, unveiled results of a recent survey of nearly 500 respondents from over 100 companies, asking young people from North Iowa various questions about what they are looking for in amenities, how they found their current jobs and more.
Younger persons could sign up to receive regular updates from the group via email blasts.
The initiative began 18 months ago when the NICEDC created an initiative to help local businesses recruit and retain a young professional/skilled technical workforce and their families.
