MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore point guard Al Davis has committed to Bellermine University, a NCAA Division II school in Louisville, Ky.

Bellermine is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Davis, who lists at 5-foot-9, averaged 15.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists as a sophomore last season. Davis, who was a first-team all-NJCAA Region XI selection as a sophomore, scored 762 career points at NIACC (tied for 28th on school’s all-time list) with 294 career assists (fourth on school’s career list), 284 career rebounds and 138 career steals.

“From my future teammates to coach (Scott) Davenport to coach (Michael) Scott to the winning atmosphere they have here, it feel likes home,” Davis told the Louisville Courier-Journal. “(Davenport) says he wants me to push the ball, and I like to create for others. We had an open gym, and I saw we have great shooters, and we move the ball as a team. As soon as I saw that, my eyes just lit up.”
