MASON CITY -You can learn how to make your own compost bin at an upcoming program being offered at Lime Creek Nature Center.
A program entitled “Vermiculture and Composting Indoors with Worms” will be held at the Lime Creek Nature Center on Monday, January 26 at 7 p.m.
Participants will learn how to set up a compost bin that fits under the kitchen sink. Using red wiggler worms, the bin will make high quality compost for use in a garden or with potted plants. This system is especially convenient in the winter when outdoor temperatures drop.
This workshop will demonstrate how easy it is to compost food scraps without smell or mess – all within the kitchen! One lucky attendee will go home with a ready to use indoor compost bin!
There is no charge but registration is required – please call 423-5309.
