CHARLES CITY – A suspended driver blew through a stop sign on a Charles City street and caused thousands in damages.
On January 8, 2015 at about 11:30 AM, Charles City police were called to Gilbert Street and Chautauqua Avenue for a two-car accident. At the scene, a wreck was observed between a 2001 Chevy Lumina driven by 19-year-old Courtney Vikturek and a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 18-year-old Alexander Babcock, both of Charles City. After an investigation, it was determined that Vikturek was driving with a suspended license and had driven through the stop sign at the intersection without stopping.
Vikturek was arrested on charges of driving while suspended and failure to obey a stop sign. She was jailed and released the next day, pending a court date. The accident caused at least $2,000 in damages.
