FOREST CITY, IOWA – The Waldorf Art Gallery will be displaying the artistic works of Dean A. Genth, digital photographic artist, beginning Tuesday, October 14. The show will be on display until Friday, December 5. An opening reception will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on October 14 with an artist talk at 6:30 p.m.
Genth, who moved to Mason City, Iowa, over ten years ago, began his evolution as a self-taught digital photographic artist, aided by a few workshops and tutoring sessions. “My concentration on digital photographic artistry came later in life after a successful career as a CEO in the business world,” Genth said. “Through the lens, by way of my own eye, I like to often give a unique view of an otherwise well-known or common subject.”
Genth enjoys experimentation with macro photography – taking a small portion or piece of the larger image and transforming it into something new, imaginative and even more beautiful than the whole. Other times, he finds himself wanting to capture the uniqueness of an individual or a given object.
“I invite you to stop, take a look and share with me the emotion that any of these digital photographic images may have created within your being,” Genth said. “My joy in creating these images will be increased ten-fold by learning what emotions were evoked through the viewers perception.”
Visiting the Waldorf Art Gallery and attending the artist reception are free to the public. For more information about the Waldorf Art Gallery contact Dean Swenson at 641-585-8210. Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. when classes are in session.
