DAVENPORT – An elderly woman was found dead in a Davenport apartment – “remarkably emaciated”, according to police – and her son has been arrested and charged with her abuse.
On September 25th, 2014 at 9:42 PM, Davenport Patrol Units were dispatched to the 1000 block of Blythwood reference a deceased female, Marilyn Bohling, 79 years of age, in an apartment. The officers felt that the deceased looked remarkably emaciated and requested the assistance of Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division.
An autopsy was conducted as well as an extensive investigation conducted by the Davenport Police Department. Their findings and a review of her medical records, with the pathologists at the University of Iowa Hospital, determined the death of Marilyn Bohling as a homicide. The investigation continued, and, in working with the Scott County Attorney Office to review all of the facts surrounding the death of Marilyn Bohling, a warrant was issued for Marilyn Bohling’s son, Donald W. Bohling 46 years of age of Davenport, her caretaker.
Donald W. Bohling was arrested on November 18, 2014, and charged with Dependent Adult Abuse with Serious Injury. Bowling remains jailed as he awaits a court date.
