Texas man pleads not guilty to felony assault crime in rural Nora Springs

MASON CITY – A Texas man arrested in June on a felony charge after an alleged assault near Nora Springs has pleaded not guilty and awaits trial.

Cerro Gordo county law enforcement were called to 23977 Claybanks Drive, outside Nora Springs, on Friday, June 11, 2020 at about 7:59 PM, to investigate an alleged assault. After an investigation, 35-year-old Brian William Huebsch of Fort Worth, Texas was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault – impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury. This is a violation of Iowa code 708.2A, a class D felony. Court records say that Huebsch attacked, bit and choked a female family member, “by obstructing the nose or mouth of (victim name) and causing bodily injury by biting the index finger with his teeth causing bruising, pain, redness, and a blood blister.”

Huebsch was held on $5,000.00 cash/surety bond. He was later released from jail. A judge imposed a no-contact order on Huebsch.

Huebsch is represented by William T. Morrison.  He entered a not guilty plea on June 30.  He now awaits a pre-trial conference on September 21 and a jury trial on October 6.
