MASON CITY – A Mason City man with meth and marijuana was caught after a chase by law enforcement Wednesday night.
The Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office said that a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle at about 10:52 PM Wednesday near the area of 2nd Street NW and Crescent Drive. When the deputy attempted to stop the 1992 Ford F150 pickup, the driver, identified as 25-year-old Mackenzie Everett Servantez, refused to stop and sped away and a pursuit began. Servantez drove through a yard on 2nd Street NW and across Pierce Avenue, and then south onto Willowbrook Drive. Servantez then fled from the truck and a foot pursuit began.
Additional deputies from the sheriff’s office, along with Mason City police officers came to the area to assist and Servantez was arrested behind the Autumn Park Apartments in the 600 block of South Pierce Avenue.
During the ensuing investigation, deputies located large quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana,a along with paraphernalia inside the vehicle, which is owned by Servantez.
Servantez was arrested and charged with possession of meth with intent to deliver; possession of marijuana with intent to deliver; two counts of no tax stamp; failure to yield to an emergency vehicle; and no valid driver’s license. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $100,000 bond. No one was injured in the pursuit, but one deputy’s vehicle sustained minor damage.
