WASHINGTON – A program for Afghan citizens who helped U.S. forces during the Afghan war will allow special visas for up to 1,000 persons, allowing them to come to America.
According to remarks made today by Secretary of State John Kerry:
John Kerry, US Secretary of State
For 13 years, thousands of Afghans have worked alongside our troops and our diplomats, often at great personal risk and many have even lost their lives. When I was in the Senate, I was proud to support the creation of the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program to keep faith with so many Afghans and Iraqis who stood by the United States. I came into the State Department determined to keep our promises to these brave men and women. That is why I welcome today’s approval of bipartisan legislation in the Senate authorizing 1,000 additional visas for the Afghan SIV program, which follows passage of this legislation in the House on Wednesday.Congress has stood by us in making sure that the United States remains committed to helping those who helped us. Over the past year, the State Department and our colleagues at other agencies have streamlined the SIV application process and reduced backlogs. As a result of these efforts, well before the end of fiscal year 2014, we have nearly reached our statutory cap of 3,000 visas for Afghans who were employed by or on behalf of the U.S. government. Passage of this legislation enables us to continue visa issuances for these deserving individuals who faithfully served with us. I want to particularly thank my former Senate colleagues, Senators Jeanne Shaheen and John McCain, as well as their counterparts in the House, Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Adam Kinzinger, for their leadership on this issue. We look forward to further cooperation with Congress as we seek authorization to continue this program in fiscal year 2015. More than 11,000 Afghans and their family members have benefited from SIV programs, and we are eager to welcome many more.
I appreciate our government helping these Afgans that helped our soldiers. I just hope that they don’t come here just to get on government welfare, like the plague at the southern border and the black plague has.

Yeah and George W. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld should be required to sport the bill for the relocation effort. I’d hope the United States wouldn’t leave them to be slaughtered like George H.W. Bush did to the Kurds. Afghanistan is going to return to Sharia law, as will Iraq.
@Maybe: It was your fault. Had you not been walking near that building when American forces bombed it, you wouldn’t have been injured, and therefore Obama wouldn’t have concern for you, so he wouldn’t have withdrawn nearly all the troops from Iraq. Your incident of friendly fire cost the United States the entire campaign. Thanks a bunch.
maybe, Not your fault, you just did your duty.
And thank you for that.
However, if you look closer you will find out that the Iraqi Christians had it much better off under Hussein than either with current government or the fanatic ISIS.
So, since we had no reason to go into Iraq in the first place, you can put that blame square on Dubya and his nefarious and lying cronies.
Your problem is that you blame Obama for EVERYTHING!
I only blame Obama for what he has done. Experts have said that sadam did keep most of his people in line by using force so you do have a point there but if you have been keeping up on current events you would know that ISIS took over a base that had bio weapons in it plus in the iran Iraq war we did give WMD’s to Iraq so we KNOW that they had them. We even found training camps for terrorists there so we know al quada was in Iraq so we had to go in there.

and like Obama did to the Iraqi christians
“I got a papercut, it’s Obama’s fault” – maybe
“Someone took my parking spot, it’s Obama’s fault” – maybe
“My toast got burnt this morning, it’s Obama’s fault” – maybe
“I’m constipated, it’s Obama’s fault” – maybe
“I can’t find my car keys, it’s Obama’s fault” – maybe
“I screwed you all, but thanks for blaming the black guy” – G.W. Bush
so what you are saying is that Obama pulling ALL our troops out of Iraq so ISIS can take over and kill Christians is either bush’s fault or my fault?

BTW…before you take any of what I wrote seriously, I was being facetious.
you could have been serious for all I care, I still would have thought it was funny, and I wasn’t walking by the building, I was driving by it.
