MC man guilty of causing trouble at RAGBRAI fest, eluding

MASON CITY – A Mason City man pled guilty Monday to a charge of eluding police and recently pled guilty to essentially causing trouble at the RAGBRAI fest last week.

Nick Alan Moser was charged with eluding on March 24, 2014, when Mason City police received a call from a citizen about a reckless driver. The caller gave specific information about the vehicle and location, and police converged on the area where the subject was driving. Officers located the vehicle and tried to pull the car over. The driver – Moser – failed to pull over and drove for several blocks before stopping at a residence in the 1300 block of 2nd Street NW. Moser was arrested when he got out of the car. He later skipped at least two court dates in connection with this incident.

On Monday, he pled guilty to the eluding charge and was sentenced to two days in jail, two years of probation and $3,567.25 in fines and court fees. He already paid $3,000, records show.

On the early morning of July 24, 2014, Moser was in downtown Mason City, intoxicated, and police attempted to arrest him, but was not cooperative. Police got Moser under control and placed him under arrest with charges of interference with official acts and public intoxication. He pled guilty to both charges that same day and was assessed fines and fees totaling $727.50. Also on July 24th, Moser was found guilty in Bremer county of speeding.
