NIACC plans 11th Annual Gardening Seminar

MASON CITY – The 11th Annual Gardening Seminar, “Come Bloom with Us”, will be held Thursday, March 20 on the North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event offers participants an opportunity to learn from educators and local gardening specialists and get an early start on the gardening season in North Iowa.

Gardeners will hear presentations on a variety of topics including container gardening, creating rock gardens, attracting spring birds, cooking with herbs, fairy gardens and growing roses.

The presenters include: Aaron Steil, Rieman Gardens; Gary Whittenbaugh, Fran Mara Garden; Ellen Montgomery, The Basic Birder; Becky Litterer, Becky’s Greenhouse and Nancy Clark, ISU Extension.

“Market Street” is a popular part of the seminar and features a wide range of garden-related business displays. Participants have an opportunity to learn about North Iowa gardening businesses and make purchases.

The Gardening Seminar is sponsored by NIACC in cooperation with Iowa State University Master Gardeners.
