Jada Buckley scores 19 points in Iowa State victory over William & Mary

logo_iowa_state_cyclonesAMES, Iowa – The No. 14 Iowa State women’s basketball team (11-0, 0-0 Big 12) posted its third undefeated non-conference schedule in school history with an 85-65 win over William & Mary (3-8, 0-0 Patriot League) Sunday at Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State was led by junior Brynn Williamson who tallied 19 points and six rebounds.

Former Mason City Mohawk Jada Buckley tied her career-high with 19 points.  She also set career-high in shot attempts with five.

Iowa State came out hot in the first half, as it looked as if they couldn’t miss from long. The Cyclones netted 10 trey’s in the first half, led by Williamson’s five first-half three’s. Williamson would close the first with 19 total points pacing the Cyclones to a 55-23 lead in the first half, the highest of the season.

The Cyclones would place four in double-digits with Williamson (19), Jadda Buckley (19), Nikki Moody (14) and Hallie Christofferson (11). ISU also controlled the rebounding game 47-to-29, with Kidd Blaskowsky and Seanna Johnson leading the way with seven boards each.

Brynn Williamson set the pace for the Cyclones, as the junior knocked down five trey’s in the first half, netting all 19 of her points in the first half. She also grabbed four rebounds and three assists in the first 20 minutes.

Williamson would play a few short minutes in the second half, picking up a few more boards to finish the game with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Cyclones won their 77th consecutive non-conference game in Hilton Coliseum.

Four Cyclones (Moody, Buckley, Williamson and Christofferson) scored in double-figures for the third time this season and the second-consecutive game.

The Cyclones kick off Big 12 play with a two-game road swing, facing TCU on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. in Fort Worth, Texas. Iowa State will then face No. 25 Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m.
