Drunk driver who blamed sober driver now serving jail time

MASON CITY – a Nora Springs woman involved in an auto crash earlier this year who plead guilty to operating while intoxicated is now in jail, serving her sentence.

Christine Marie Rosendahl, 40, rear-ended another car on February 16th, 2013 at the 2700 block of 4th Street SE near the entrance to Mulligan’s Bar in Mason City.

Police detained Rosendahl and transported her to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office where she submitted to a breath alcohol content test. According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigations Unit, Rosendahl failed the BAC test after she blew a .250 on two occasions. In Iowa the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle is .080.

While waiting for officers to arrive at the accident scene that day, Rosendahl updated the status on her Facebbok page, blaming the sober driver that she rear ended for the accident. The post read, “Look for me in the next episode of iowa mug shots… some a******e slammed on her breaks, I hit her, I went to jail. Be careful!!!”

Rosendahl ultimately plead guilty on June 24th, 2013, to operating while intoxicated, 1st offense. Judge Karen Salic suspended half of a $1,250 fine and ordered Rosendahl to jail for two days. She owes $993.75 to Iowa courts in fees and fines.
