Christmas with Waldorf celebration scheduled for December 1 and 2

Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa

Forest City, Iowa – Ring in the holiday season with music at Christmas with Waldorf, an annual weekend of concert performances, at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 1, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 2, at 3:00 p.m. The theme of this year’s performance is A Rose in Winter.

“The theme was chosen because of the prophesy of Isaiah that said a ‘root will shoot forth from the stem of Jesse,’” explains Choral Director Dr. Adam Luebke. He continues, “The concert will be a worshipful experience, with the audience able to sing along with hymns and carols.”

The Waldorf Choir, Schola Cantorum, Sangkor, Mannskor, and members of the Waldorf Wind Symphony will perform musical selections that celebrate the Christmas Story, from the traditional 15th century There is No Rose to the more contemporary Do You Hear What I Hear?

Tickets cost $5 and are available by calling 641-585-8724 or visiting the Immanuel Lutheran Church office. Tickets will also be available at the door before each performance.

Prior to both concerts, a Scandinavian meal with American holiday favorites will be served in the Waldorf College Atrium. Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, with brunch served from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2. Tickets for the Scandinavian dinner or brunch must be purchased in advance by calling 641-585-8724 or at the Immanuel Lutheran Church office. Saturday dinner and concert tickets are $20 each. Sunday brunch and concert tickets are $17, while brunch-only tickets are $12.
