Steve King on Thursday blasted the concept of “Meatless Mondays.“
“Meatless Mondays” claims that it is a “non-profit health initiative, encouraging people around the world to go meatless one day a week for their health and the health of the planet!”
They say their mission is to “aim to reduce meat consumption by 15% in order to improve personal health and the health of our planet.”
King said, “I never expected to see a leprechaun, I never expected to see a unicorn, and I never, never expected to see “Meatless Mondays” at the United States Department of Agriculture. I said, ‘I’m going to declare this heresy.'”
The USDA recently said it does not support “Meatless Mondays.” Their press team said via Twitter that “USDA does not endorse Meatless Monday.”

steve king is a leprechaun and a liar and a thief.
To eat meat or not is a personal choice. Don’t need anyone telling me how much or when to eat it.
Far as I’m concerned they can simply bugger off!
It’s the Department of Agriculture, not the Department of Meat. Don’t you think that if someone substituted US grown meat with US grown plant-based food it would still benefit and fit into what the Department of Agriculture is supposed to do? There’s nothing wrong with not eating meat, one day a week, if you choose to do that. It’s not a moral condemnation of meat-eaters.
But “Meatless Monday” is an organized effort to demean consumption of meat. Google it. There are all manner of radical organizations behind it.
