MANLY – Local fire departments were alerted to a brush fire Sunday afternoon at 5:35 p.m. in Worth County.

The fire was located at or near 3510 Thrush Avenue, southeast of Manly.  It was said the fire started in a ditch and there was concern it would spread to nearby fields.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has warning that there is a “very high fire danger today” throughout the North Iowa area over the last few days.

They had said that “the combination of strong winds, warm temps and low humidity and dried vegetation will result in a very high fire danger.”
