BRITT, Iowa ñ Sept. 8, 2011 ñ Hot-mix asphalt resurfacing and pavement widening work will reduce Iowa 14 to one lane in alternating directions from the Butler County line near Greene, north/east to U.S. 18 near Charles City, beginning Monday, Sept. 19, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Britt construction office.
A 14-foot lane width restriction will be in place in the open lanes. Traffic will be controlled with flaggers and a pilot car and return to normal conditions when workers are not present.
This project will continue until winter weather conditions set in and resume again in the spring of 2012.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.|
