Gerald Naumann, 83, of Mason City, passed away on June 26, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.
A memorial service to honor Gerald’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA with Pastor Nadine Nkulu officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service at 9:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Gerald was born on September 27, 1941, in Marble Rock, Iowa, to Walter and Velma (Lee) Naumann. He attended Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School and later spent a few hardworking years at the Rockford Brickyard, where he assisted with truck driving.
On June 1, 1963, Gerald married Barbara Yancy in Mason City. The couple made their home in Windsor, Missouri, where they spent many years together. Gerald especially enjoyed the days Barbara joined him on the road as an over-the-road truck driver; they were true partners in every sense of the word. In 2001, they returned to Iowa to be closer to the people who meant the most to them: family. Once settled back in Mason City, Gerald continued driving truck with PDQ.
In his free time, Gerald enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He relaxed while watching classic Westerns and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan—game time was sacred, and no interruptions were allowed. He had a unique collection of angels, pieced together puzzles with careful focus, and could often be found tapping his foot to country music or enjoying a good rodeo.
Above all else, Gerald was a family man through and through. He was most content in the company of Barb and the many nieces and nephews who brought so much joy to his life. He had a playful spirit and was known for his teasing sense of humor that never failed to coax giggles and smiles.
Gerald is survived by his brothers, James (Clarice) Naumann and Larry (Jodie) Naumann; sisters-in-law, Kathy Anderson and Mavis Beenen; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Barbara; his parents, Walter and Velma; parents-in-law, Irwin and Donna; his brother, Lyle Naumann; sisters, Donna (Roger) Ebeling and Cheryl (Ray) Schroeder; brothers-in-law, Gary Anderson and Richard (Sharlene) Yancy; and nephews, Richard Westendorf and Mike Hedegard.
